OUR MEMPHIS CHARITY PARTNER
Memphis Oral School for the Deaf
We are proud to sponsor Memphis Oral School for the Deaf for our Memphis race, and we are excited to support their mission!
Memphis Oral School for the Deaf has empowered deaf children to Listen, Learn, and Talk for more than 50 years. Through “oral” deaf education methods, our students develop listening and spoken language skills without using sign language. Our goal for every deaf child is to develop language skills necessary to mainstream into their neighborhood schools with their hearing peers and lead an independent life. The cost to educate each child is $50,000 per year for these individualized and unique services. Tuition is based on a sliding fee scale. MOSD has never turned a family away for the inability to pay. MOSD frequently absorbs the cost for services through fundraising efforts so that every deaf child, regardless of socio-economic background, would have the opportunity to learn spoken language despite family’s financial limitations. YOUR support and the funds raised from this event will be used to provide scholarship assistance and ensure that every deaf child has the opportunity to develop their own voice.
