Well, that’s awkward. You’ve signed up for The Great Inflatable Race but don’t know where to start or how to prepare. Lucky for you, we have gathered our top tips and tricks to get you ready for your first run at The Great Inflatable Race!
- GET THE RIGHT GEAR!
Buy a new crazy cool outfit or head to our merch shop to get all the gear needed to stand out at the race! Be sure you have the correct shoe for the race. Get to a running specialty store and get a shoe that will be beneficial to you specifically and remember, The Great Inflatable Race does not allow spiked or heavy tread shoes.
- FIND A RUNNING BUDDY
Goal setting is something we all can be a part of! To make it even more fun, grab a running buddy who will help hold you accountable for your goals. Establish a routine and make sure they are committed to the process like you are. Running The Great Inflatable Race with friends is even more bouncetacular fun and will keep you laughing for months after the race.
- VARY YOUR WORKOUTS
To physically prepare for The Great Inflatable Race, be sure to vary your workouts leading up to race day. This race is more than just running ad getting through obstacles. Throw in various workouts and exercises that will utilize different muscles. Here is a brief one-week workout we recommend (at your pace and ability) to get you started:
Sunday – 30-60-minute hike (moderate difficulty)
Monday – 20-minute cardio run and 30-minute weightlifting session (hamstrings, quads and calves)
Tuesday – 45-minute swim workout (laps or down and back)
Wednesday – 20-minute stair climber, 10-minute run, and 20-minute bike followed by 30-minute weightlifting session (biceps, triceps, shoulders, back and core)
Thursday – 30-minute biking session and core work
Friday – 60-minute hike (hard difficulty)
Saturday – rest day
- MAKE A BOUNCETASTIC PLAYLIST
There’s nothing worse than working out and having a poor playlist. Be sure to have your workout and race day playlist set and ready to go before you head out! Get your favorite songs, ask for some song recommendations from friends, create your superhero playlist and get ready to have a bouncetastic time!
- STRETCH, ICE AND TAKE CARE
This is one of the most critical components of healing. You are going to be sore when you begin following a workout program. Be sure to take the necessary precautions needed to prevent muscle injury. We recommend stretching every single night, icing 2-3 times a week and getting a restful night’s sleep each night.
- HAVE FUN!
Remember, The Great Inflatable Race is all about FUN! Soak up the fun, remember to snap some photos and share with us using #thegreatinflatablerace so we can see all the fun you are having! We are so excited to welcome you as a first-time bouncer and can’t wait to watch you have a bouncetastic time with your friends and family!
