Solar Eclipse Festival

Aug 14,2017

Have you decided where you’ll be watching the solar eclipse? We thought we would join in on all the fun by explaining exactly what a solar eclipse is and a great place to watch it!

A total solar eclipse is when the moon completely covers the sun and its atmosphere. It will darken the skies around us. But don’t let the darkness fool you! You will definitely want to bring a pair of the proper solar viewing glasses to protect you from the sun. We might be a little biased, but you will definitely want to watch it from Yonder Field for the Solar Eclipse Festival in Bowman, SC on August 21!  Bowman, SC is in the path of totality which extends from Salem, Oregon to Charleston, South Carolina, so we can promise that you will have a great view!

The festival will be hosting The Great Inflatable Race, with talented musical guests such as Uncle Kracker, Edwin McCain, and Corey Smith. There will be much more including food, big competitions and prizes. They are also providing the option to camp overnight from Sunday, August 20 through Tuesday, August 22, so you can participate in all the fun! The Solar Eclipse will be visible starting at 2:30 pm on the day of the event.

You won’t want to miss this!

Ways to Give Back

Aug 07,2017

Here at The Great Inflatable Race, we believe in giving back to each city we go to by partnering with non-profits and other organizations in the community. Every city, family, and participant is equally important to us. We know it can be difficult to find time to do service projects, but here are five simple ways you can give back to your community.

Volunteer, Volunteer, Volunteer!

Some of the best experiences serving the community can be enjoyed by visiting schools, hospitals, or care facilities. Even if it’s for just a short amount of time, you can greatly impact others by volunteering and visiting with those around you.

Get Creative

Are you skilled in crafting or cooking? Share your talents by using your crafting skills to make blankets or clothes for children and hospital patients. You can also use your cooking abilities to cook for a neighbor or family in need. You can even hold local classes to teach skills that you have!

Reuse Your Bags

Bring reusable canvas bags to the store when shopping. Paper and plastic bags both require a lot of energy and use up our earth’s resources. So reuse, reduce, and recycle--because giving back to the community includes taking care of the beautiful environment around you.

Spread Awareness

There are many charities that could use more support and illnesses that we need to be more aware of. Find out how you can help by researching different organizations and sharing them on social media and with your friends and family.

And last, but not least...Donate!

One of the biggest ways we give back is by donating to local charities in each race city. We also provide donation links to each race charity on our website, and every penny counts! Some of our charities have also asked for clothing and other donation items. We are extremely touched by  how giving each city has been, and we can’t wait to see the impact you all continue to have!

How have you been giving back? Leave your comments below!
